Annual Meeting MINUTES
June 29, 2024
Location: Aloha Township Hall
Attendance: 42 members

Coffee and Donuts 8:00-8:30 (purchased at Aloha General Store)
Meeting called to order at 8:30 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance – led by Fabian LaVigne
Membership Introductions (name, street, # of years at the lake) – all in attendance participated
Treasurer Message: financials posted to website
It was recognized that after 28 years the current Treasurer, Barb Hall, was retiring effective on this date June 29, 2024. An election was held (discussed later in the meeting) to nominate and vote on her replacement Joe Steinman.

Approximately 40 minutes was devoted to a Q&A session with the association members and the DNR Officers. Topics included: life preservers, boating direction on the lake, definition of trespassing on shorelines, anchoring to swim, noise, 100 ft. wake speeds, wake boats, jet skis, water skiing behind jet skis, water ski observers, alcohol on board, feeding the ducks, etc.

District 2 – Ed DeLana (from 5276 Hiawatha Dr to and including Nakomis Trail)
District 4 – Chuck Maziasz (from 4696 Hiawatha to 4664 Hiawatha )
District 6 – vacant with no volunteers at the meeting (from E.Beechwood to end of Norway Trail including Wylie Rd) after the meeting Ed Riggan has volunteered to fill the position.
All nominations were accepted with no dissenters. A call for a vote was brought forward. 100% of attendees approved the nominations. This motion represents the Cheboygan Long Lake Association (CLLAA) formal/official approval to add Joe Steinman as the replacement to Barb Hall as Treasurer and approve changing all signature cards, forms for banking savings and checking accounts, CD’s, use of nonprofit tax ID’s, and financial matters as they pertain to the CLLAA. The by-laws of the organization state in Section 4: “All accounts and certificates of deposit shall contain at least two officer’s signatures.” Going forward from this meeting date the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer names will be added to all financial forms signature cards with the respective names (Jeff Sherman, David Brodstein, and Joe Steinman) and therefore make them available to sign documents. This action will also remove any previous officers from the banking records.
Lake Invasive Species Milfoil Update – Dave Brodstein/Jeff Ehlers
- Limited spring regeneration resulting in delay of survey/treatment
- Survey Date Tuesday July 15 with treatment to be scheduled based on survey results
- Signs, Markers, Limit Access to the lake on treatment days
CLLAA Sponsorship of Loon Nesting Platforms – Ed DeLana
The activity was discussed to build two loon nesting platforms and anchor on Long Lake Cheboygan County. A motion was brought forward by Terry Hollaway to vote on CLLAA spending up to $1,500 to build these platforms. Terry also volunteered to lead this initiative with CLLAA. Dave Coombs volunteered to build with and other volunteers agreed to work with the subcommittee. Jeff Sherman, Ed DeLana, and Dave Brodstein from the CLLAA Board will work with subcommittee.

*Aloha Township news (Chuck Maziasz) last Thursday of the month is free trash day and Pallister Rd landfill is still available by contacting Chuck
*4th of July Boat Parade (Chuck Maziasz) -1:00 start at Camp Walden. Chris Casari reminded the group
that political messages, signs, etc should not be displayed as part of the parade
*August Camp Walden Boat Concert – Flat Rock Marching Band – Friday Aug 9 5:00 PM
