General Meeting Notes:

Fred Olive called the meeting to order at 8:30am

All in attendance were welcomed and individually introduced themselves and identified where their property was located on the lake.

Review of the agenda

Pledge of Allegiance

The Secretary (Fred Schramm) and Treasurer (Barb Hall) indicated that they both had detailed reports from the past years respective meetings and activities and that anyone was welcome to obtain copies and review via the CLLAA website www.CLLAA.org. All meeting minutes and Treasurers’ reports will be posted to the web site for viewing and Fred Olive encouraged everyone to visit the website and review the content.

Aquatic Abatement review

Chuck Maziasz stated that the lake was treated on 6-23-2021.  The survey of the lake was done later in the season. It is generally better to do the survey later.  If it done too early in the season, the results may not be as accurate.  This year there was approximately 12 acres were treated.   Usually there is only a couple of days between when we are notified and when they treat the lake. We will post on the web site when it known ahead of time.  Once treated, they will review in 30 to 45 days to verify the effectiveness.  If needed they will treat again at no cost to us.  It costs approximately $15-20,000 to treat the lake, depending on the amount that then need to treat. There is approximately $39,000 left in the fund for treating the lake. Once that money is depleted, a new tax assessment will be needed for additional funds.

PAC Sanitation

It was stated that PAC Sanitation in Onaway, MI will pickup up to 6-bags of garbage the last Thursday of the month. It must be placed on a public road, and if its your first pick up, you should contact PAC.  Residents of Aloha Township receive a discount on their monthly bill for service.  They must tell Pac that they are residents of the township.  It is encouraged to use them because of the discount and it also lessens the wear and tear on the roads around the lake when there are multiple heavy trucks servicing the area.

 Update on the Assessment

Barb Hall stated that there are 199 land owners and deeded access property owners. 26 were members in 2020 and we have over 60 members at this time. Of the 199 letters sent out in 2021 regarding the survey, they have received 61 yes votes four no vote answer and six anonymous no’s. They need at least one hundred returned votes and 51% must be in favor. The previous assessment was about $190.00 for land owner and $93.00 for deeded access. If the association meets the threshold of at least one hundred ballots, and 51% positive, it will be presented to the Aloha Twp board. The hope is before August 1, 2021. The Twp board will hold two public hearings. During the public hearing phase the assessment monies and duration will be determined. The plan is to have the assessment begin in the summer of 2022, last five years and be about $200.00 per year per land owner.  Fred Schramm will add a form to the web site for any residents to fill out and submit to the association.
