Discussion Points

Financial update
Joe Steinman presented the financials for the period of July 2024 thru May 2025
The balances reflect an increase in revenues for the time period as well as an increase in
operating expenses (loon project, misc. )
The current balance is $16,241 as of May 2025. As of July 2024 the balance was $16,781
Joe has completed and reviewed all incoming deposits and all expenses since June 2024
with Jeff Sherman

Annual Meeting Agenda

Progressive Presentation: Luke Aaron will be the main speaker at the 2025 CLLAA
Annual meeting on June 28, 2025. He will review the 12-year milfoil treatment history and
answer questions. He will conduct the initial survey the day prior to the meeting and
present his findings. If necessary, but doubtful, he will also communicate the date for
treatment
Officer Elections:
2025 is an “odd” year so the elections at the annual meeting will be for districts 1,3, and 5
and the President and Secretary positions

Jeff Sherman and Fred Schram will run for these positions. There was discussion that there
was a candidate who would possibly run for the president position if Jeff was serious about
not running – but Jeff indicated/clarified after the meeting that he will run for another two-
year term

Chris Casari announced that she would not be running for district 1 and had a candidate
who may be willing to take her position. Chris was going to check to see if this person was
interested.

Districts 3 and 5 have vacancies (Dan Whiting, Andre Stahl previous reps). We will look for
volunteers prior to the annual meeting and ask at the meeting if there are other interested
individuals

Loon Project status:
Ed Delana briefed the board on loon activities around the
platform. He indicated that Leeann Stoper is keeping a watchful eye on activities in the
cove around the platform. We will update the association with the activities and ask if
Leeann wants to share her observations at the meeting

Usual Items:
Chuck will discuss the Aloha Township updates at the annual meeting
and discuss the Pallister dump situation. It is assumed that there will also be a brief
update on the annual July 4 boat parade (time and meeting location)

Other Board Meeting Discussion Points

Tip of Mitt Presentation at Linking Lakes Event:
Jeff Sherman and David Brodstein will attend the Tip of the Mitt:
Linking Lakes annual event which brings northern Michigan lake
associations together. CLLAA will be one of the lake associations presenting at this forum.
Jeff and Dave will present our partnership history of treating Eurasian Milfoil at Long Lake
between CLLAA, Aloha Township, and Progressive Companies.
Damaged Sign: The CLLAA sign at Manning Road was damaged. Repairs (new poles) will
be installed, and the sign should be back up within a week

Association Membership Memo:
The board reviewed a memo to inform lakeshore
residents about the mission and benefits of the lake association. It was discussed that the
note should be distributed to all lakeshore owners. The memo will be updated for
comments, and a final draft will be sent to the board for review and comment prior to its
distribution. The use of Facebook, the CLLAA website, and mailing were discussed as
options for distribution. No concrete decision was made on how to disburse it.

Sunken Dock:
The dock that has sunk and remains under water 100 feet from shore was
discussed. Ed Delana has been in contact with the owners and is providing additional
salvage information to the owners. The buoy that was previously used to mark the large
rock is available to the homeowners if they choose to take responsibility for anchoring the
marker buoy. The association’s concern is that the dock is removed. It is anticipated that
the DNR requires that the dock be removed but it is unclear as to a timing requirement

Excavating at the Lakeshore:
Discussion took place regarding some excavation work at
one of the residences on the lake. The excavation includes removing old debris
(dock/seawall?) at the waterfront as well as into the lake. Chris Casari informed us that the
owner has indicated that they have obtained the required permits to conduct the work. It
appears that the appropriate retaining barriers have been installed. Assuming the
appropriate permits were obtained, the association believes there will be appropriate
follow up by the appropriate authorities .

Meeting adjourned at 7:40
